Haydn - String quartet in D, Op. 71, No. 2
Dvorak - String quartet in E flat, Op. 51
Beethoven - String quartet in B flat, Op. 130
What an enjoyable and varied programme The Heath have chosen for our opening concert - one of Haydn’s boldest and most outgoing quartets, Dvorak’s ‘Slavonic’ coloured by the folk music of his native Bohemia, closing with Beethoven’s self-described 'Lieb' (Dear) Quartet.
The Aquarelle Guitar Quartet - Generously sponsored by Hayes+Storr, Solicitors
Rimsky-Korsakov - Capriccio Espagnol
Bach - Brandenberg Concerto No. 6

Edward Martin - Hasta Alicia Baila
A new and exciting departure for our Midsummer Music Concerts - The Acqarelle Guitar Quartet, the only established guitar quartet in Britain. The range of music they have chosen, from Rimsky-Kotsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol, Bach’s Brandenberg Concerto No. 6 to Eduardo Martin‘s Cuban rumba, Hasta Alicia Baila, will display their great virtuosity. This is a concert not to be missed.
The Scott Brothers Duo - Generously sponsored by Larking Gowen, Chartered Accountants
Mozart - Overture to the Magic Flute
Ravel - Mother Goose Suite
Grieg - Peer Gynt Suite No.1
Stravinksy - Danse Russe from Petrouchka
Rimsky-Korsakov - Finale from Scheherezade
Poulenc - Sonata for Four Hands
Dukas - The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
An eclectic choice of music, performed four hands on one piano, by the ‘very impressive’ (Daily Telegraph) Scott Brothers Duo, Jonathan & Tom Scott. Some of the pieces, such as the Peer Gynt Suite and the Sorcerer’s Apprentice are special arrangements of orchestral music for piano duo. Perhaps Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Stravinsky’s Petrouchka have more clarity and cutting edge in their composer’s own piano versions. Come along to Holkham Hall to judge for yourselves.
